About Carla

Carla is a HCPC registered Paediatric Occupational Therapist, working with children and young people since 2012.

Carla has a caring, compassionate and friendly approach. She maintains a family-centred focus, displaying empathy and working collaboratively with children, young people and their families when making decisions. She places a strong emphasis on occupation and participation and what is meaningful and important to each child and family.

She has experience working in specialist tertiary centres such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and Leeds Children’s Hospital neuro-rehabilitation unit, as well as the well established Hackney Ark Children’s Community team. She has developed a wide range of experience and specialist skills working with complex physical cases and children with a range of additional needs.

She has experience working with a variety of ages including premature and post-term babies, children and young people. She has worked in a number of settings across both acute impatient and the community, including homes, schools and nurseries.

Carla has an in-depth understanding of baby and children development and how a range of physical and cognitive conditions can impact a child/young person’s independence skills and participation in daily life. She is skills at thorough paediatric assessment, occupational analysis and grading and adapting activities to maximise independence and potential. She works together with families to develop meaningful goals to work towards and progressive steps to achieve them.

Carla is passionate about delivering a professional and high standard of care to children, young people and their families, involving regular communication and collaboration to make decisions. Her assessment and interventions are tailored and individualised to their specific needs, wishes and environment. She brings a high level of knowledge and experience, combined with a fun and light-hearted approach to make sessions enjoyable.
